Rooted in Story: The Heritage Behind Every Ava Grace Piece

Every Ava Grace piece starts long before a sketch. It starts with a story — usually three of them, layered together, because that is how our design process actually works.

English Tradition

There is a formality and craftsmanship in English textile tradition — the tailored shirt, the properly finished seam, the idea that sleepwear can be as considered as daywear — that shapes how we think about fit and finishing. It is where our silhouettes get their structure.

African Beauty

We are proudly made in South Africa, and that is not incidental. The colour stories, the confidence, the way a piece is meant to be worn and lived in rather than kept for best — that is African beauty as we understand it, and it runs through every collection from our sleepwear to our jewellery.

Indian Handicraft

Many of our fabrics and finishing techniques — including the hand embroidery on our cashmere scarves — draw on generations of Indian textile craft. It is a slow, skilled work, and it's a big part of why we describe our pieces as intentionally designed rather than mass produced.

Why This Matters to How We Design

Limited-edition runs, repurposed designer fabrics, and small-batch production are not just sustainability talking points for us — the are what happens naturally when three traditions this detailed come together. Every piece carries a little bit of all three, which is why we say it is rooted in story, designed with meaning.
